Drac
|
Age: approx. 2,000 years old
DOB: c.600 B.C.
Birthplace: Rhone River (near Beaucaire), France
Hair: Green
Eyes: Emerald
Appearance: Frog-like dragon with two rows of blue fins on back. Has long webbed digits on all four appendages.
Element: GEL
Bio: The Drac's original name is Eauvert, which roughly translates to "Green Water." He has incredible sorcery powers, his most notable being telepathy and invisibility. A great deal of his powers come from potions and ointments he creates, especially from human ingredients. Thus, he has developed a taste for the meat. His mate and child mysteriously perished a decade prior to the beginning of the comic, leaving him thinking European dragons are all but extinct. He despises the contrasting vitality of the human race, and has recently taken drastic measures to ensure the dragon species persists.
Relatives: Mate(deceased) Male Hatchling (deceased)
Personality: Bitter, intelligent, worldly, sophisticated, caring
Author's note: Drac is based on the French myth of the same name. From what I could discern, the Drac myth takes place around 8th century A.D. He (was always considered male) dwelled in the Rhone river most of the time. He was known to be a sorceror and make ointments from human flesh that allowed him to be invisible. It was also said that he could assume a human form if he wished. He used either of these manners to stalk human children in their own town streets, abducting them when no adults were looking. He lured adults near the Rhone river banks by placing a jeweled goblet with a pearl afloat; when the person's would reach for it, he'd snatch them and bring them to his lair. I have learned that the town Draguignan in Southeastern France was named after the Drac, though the myth attached to that town involved a Christian saint and a dragon that could not speak nor cast any spells. In my opinion, it was not THIS Drac, merely a copycat. The Rhone Drac was never caught, best to my knowledge.
